The MOPSTA is a flagship project of the Rotary Club of West Cagayan de Oro under Vocational Service, one of Rotary’s avenues of service. Vocational Service is the way Rotary fosters, supports, and recognizes the worthiness to society of all useful occupations.
The search aims to recognize accomplishments of public elementary and secondary school teachers in the delivery of quality basic education, aims to encourage teachers to continue improving their competencies, and identify educational models to other teachers.

BACKYARD DAIRY MILK PRODUCTION PROJECT NOW A REALITY

The club recently received the remittance of P955,050.00 from Rotary International to complete the funding for our Backyard Dairy Production Project. This became a reality after RC of Yeocheon of
The project evolved during one of the visits of the club members in Canitoan and Opol. They noted the presence of sweet corn stalks that were being thrown away after harvesting which could be converted into money. The Dairy Production would be the answer since the waste can be used to feed the cows.
The project was conceived and during the visit of Korean from the Rotary Club of Yeocheon of South Korea, the club leadership proposed the project to the visitors which was readily accepted. The club then prepared the proposal after which the same was forwarded to Rotary International. The proposal was approved by RI in September 2007 and the fund was remitted on February 2008.
To ensure the success of the project, the farmer/beneficiaries will be required to undergo training with COPE, (Cagayan,
Pres. Adi as per board meeting appointed Dir. Al Brito as Chairman and Rtn. Dick Aguilar as Co-chairman of the project. The committee held its first breakfast meeting at Sunburst last Saturday, February 23 with NDA Technical Man, Roger Dagondon and COPEL Chairman Richie Dilla. The Dairy Committee had a very interesting and informative discussion with the two resource persons. Members of the committee that attended includes Pres. Adi, PP Bobby, PP Boy Du, PP Roy, PE Mandy and Rtn. Dick Aguilar.
The Dairy Committee agreed to hold the launching of the project on March 15, 2008 (Saturday) at Canitoan.
The mechanics of the implementation will be finalized by Chairman Al after we have finished conducting the Dairy Seminar.
Since the Dairy Cattle to be acquired will be pregnant, we plan to make an agreement that the beneficiary to returned in kind with also a pregnant cattle while producing milk for 180 days/pregnancy at 10 to 15 liters per day. Milk is bought by Highland Fresh at P18.00/liter. We expect the beneficiaries to grow while number of cattle are also multing at one calf every year.

Brito, Club President of Rotary Club of West Cagayan de Oro, during the 40th Induction and Handover Ceremonies held last July 03, 2009 – for the scholarship program undertaken by the RC West Cagayan de Oro aptly titled “PROJECT UPLIFT – Uplifting the Poor through Literacy For All Time”.
